· Humiliation is the feeling ofbeing publicly lowered exposed, mocked, dismissed, or treated like Im less than human.
· Its shame with an audience(real or imagined).
· It hits hard because it isntjust I did something wrong its I am notsafe to be seen.
· Humiliation is my systemscreaming: Danger. Youre being targeted.
· It tries to protect me bymaking me:
o disappear
o comply
o shut up
o never risk being seen again
· In my body:
o heat in my face/ears, burningskin
o stomach drop, nausea, shaking
o tight throat, cant speak
o urge to run, hide, or freeze
· In my mind:
o instant replay of what happened
o Everyone saw. Theyre laughing.Im stupid.
o catastrophic meaning: Thisproves Im nothing.
· In my behaviour:
o fawn: apologise, over-explain,try to fix it fast
o freeze: go blank, cant respond
o avoid: stop posting, stopspeaking, stop showing up
o rage later (humiliation oftenturns into anger after the shock)

· When Im already exhausted oroverwhelmed
· When Im isolated and have nosafe mirror afterward
· Shame: internal Im bad; humiliation is shame that feels forced onto me.

· What I need:
o safety and dignity
o a witness who believes me(someone safe)
o time for my nervous system tocome down
o a clear line between my worthand someones cruelty
· What has to stop / what Iwont do:
o I wont keep engaging in spaceswhere Im being degraded
o I wont hand my self-worth topeople who enjoy harming it
o I wont confuse silence withpeace
· What helps me in the moment(05 minutes):
1. Name it: This is humiliation.(Naming stops me thinking its truth.)
2. Orient to safety: look around, feel feet, slow exhale.
3. One sentence to myself: Beingdegraded is not evidence about my worth.
4. If possible: exit theinteraction. Distance is medicine.
· What helps me the same day(560 minutes):
1. Write the facts (not theinsults): What happened, who said what, what I did.
2. Contact one safe person or safeplace (even if its just reading something grounding).
3. Do one dignity-restoringaction: shower, change clothes, tidy a corner, eat, rest.
4. If its online:mute/block/report. Protect my nervous system.
· What helps me longer term:
o build dignity boundaries (whatI wont tolerate)
o learn my freeze/fawn responsesso I dont blame myself
o practice repair: I washumiliated, and I survived it.
o strengthen self-worth sohumiliation doesnt stick as deeply
· If humiliation triggersshutdown, self-harm thoughts, or panic, thats a sign my system isoverwhelmed not that Im weak.
· If Im repeatedly beinghumiliated by the same person/system, the priority becomes safety and support.
· Vignette ideas:
o A time I was humiliated by anauthority figure and what it did to my body.
o A time I protected my dignity(left, blocked, stopped explaining).
· Humiliation often sits near: Shame, Anger, Fear, Numbness, Powerlessness
